The purpose of debating is to succinctly express yourself in a way that is clear to those around you, using arguments that are persuasive. It aims to help you refine and hone your arguments so they are acceptable to those listening.
It also expand one’s knowledge and critical thinking, as you extensively do research to prepare for them, and learn from your associates—both sides.
